I got some details on science night: Jon helped dissect a baby squid (he said it was already dead) with scissors, and what he was picking out of the owl pellet was "skin and bones" and no, none of this was gross because he "was wearing gloves, Mama." He also got to look at the moon through a telescope and look at some real tarantulas and scorpions. Pretty exciting!
Also, just in case people think I love and adore my smart and precious children TOO much, some days are just plain bad. Like today... You know how I am always so excited about Jonathan's progress in learning to read and write? Well, literacy isn't always the best thing. Today he was mad at Anna, so he sounded out and wrote all by himself: I hate you Anna!
NOT my proudest moment as a parent!
They have been fighting terribly tonight, and I am tempted to skip baths because I am not sure I will make it through. Without yelling. Dave is at church. Of course, I am not feeling well, so my patience is already at a minimum right now. The only time they aren't fighting is when they are ganging up on me and joining forces to be bad together. They both seem unusually angry and violent tonight... I wish we could just fast forward to bedtime. Hey, it's almost 7! Let's go start that process!
As I type, Jonathan is singing an angry rock tune: You are dumb and you are stupid, you are dumb and you are stupid, YES! PRINCESS! STUPID! You are Princess Stu-pid!
I am probably not getting the tune across, but it does have one... and he is also playing the "drums." Oh, Lord, help me tonight!
