.) He is inventive. He never stops thinking, building, drawing, writing, etc. As I type, he is stringing string from the curtain rod across the family room to the piano. He has it taped to the bookcase to form a triangle. I don't know where he is going with this, but I can tell you, he does have a plan.
.) He loves bugs. To the point of obsession. He has been into bugs for at least two and a half years that I can remember. I will never understand this. But I like that he is so interested in something.
.) He has a very nice singing voice and can remember the tune and words of lots of songs.
.) He is very sensitive to other people's feelings.
.) He is very observant. He has always been a watcher, even as a baby.
.) He is very careful. Even as a baby, he would handle things gingerly, turning them around and inspecting them carefully. He uses more brain and less brawn in all situations.
.) He is a homebody. He loves to be home, and looks forward to Saturday, his "Stay at Home Day." We could say, "Jon, do you want to go to Disney World (or some other appealing place)?" And he would say, "Aw, man, do we have to? I just want to be home."
.) He worries a lot.
.) He has some physical problems with his hip and his leg and foot that he has struggled with since he was a toddler. But he has handled it all admirably and with acceptance. I remember when he was three and had to wear casts, he called them his space boots and thought they were pretty cool.
.) He loves school lunch. I also don't understand this. I think he likes the novelty, that there is something different every day, and you get to choose whatever you want.
.) He has always been relatively self-sufficient for his age.
.) When he is scared or uncertain of a situation, he doesn't cry or carry on, he just goes on ahead and gets through it. Like the transition to Kindergarten.
.) He is logical. Sometimes, I can't even argue with him, because he is just so right about something.
.) He is considerate and sweet-natured.
.) He is not generous with affection, so when you get a hug from him you feel like you've really earned it.
.) He needs alone time. He has always needed down time where he can just sit and be still. Just as Anna craves social time, Jonathan craves solitude.
.) He is a good problem solver. He is also intuitively good with computers and technology.
.) He can be very impressionable. If a teacher talks about recycling, he gets very passionate about it. I'll never forget the week he was really fired up about reduce reuse recycle. Just like his Momma, he gets sucked into informercials. He loves to watch them and quickly becomes convinced that we need whatever it is.
.) His favorite color is red.
.) He can be a little bit of a packrat. Just like his Daddy, he has an unnatural tendency to want to keep empty boxes.
.) He has a good attitude.
.) He is industrious. He is a hard worker (like his Daddy).
.) He has a great sense of humor. Beyond his years.
.) His favorite food is dumplings (like you make from Bisquik). And he loves Chinese food. Wonton soup is his favorite.
.) One of the main goals of his young life is to be able to drink a soda with caffiene in it. I guess it is the appeal of the forbidden.
