Tired Momma with the birthday cake.
So I finished Anna's cake. It is strawberry cake inside with vanilla bean buttercream frosting. I used a Wilton cake pan, and the picture shows a brown bear, but I made it a polar bear because I like them better, and also I would rather have mostly white frosting anyday. Also, since it is Christmas time, I felt that a polar bear was more appropriate. Our family birthday gathering is today. I wanted to get pictures up of her cake beforehand, in case something happens to it in transit. I've already almost dropped it twice. I should have listened to Dave and bought one of the Wilton cake boxes. You were right, honey.
The actual theme of her party is My Little Pony, but I could not find a horse or pony or unicorn cake pan. We got her a white unicorn pinata, and her and Jon just filled it up with candy. She has reminded me about 15 times that she is the first to hit the pinata. Also, she is the first one to get a piece of cake and she will be allowed to pick out which part of the bear she wants to eat. She told me today, "I have it all organized out in my brain. First, we will eat cake, then we will eat cookies, then we will smash the pinata." Um, is she forgetting something important, like the presents? She is so funny. She remembered to put the camera with the birthday stuff to go by the door, and she also got the candles out of the drawer and put them with the stuff. Anna is always one step ahead. She keeps us all straightened out. She has baked some cookies with her Daddy today to give out at the party. She got a cookie mix jar gift at school and wanted to make them for her birthday. Also, she is excited because she has some My Little Pony goodies to give her cousins, and she is looking forward to making her birthday craft. Dave picked out these little plaster horses to paint. I hope she has happy memories of this birthday. More pictures to follow soon!
